Desktop Configuration
It is personal
This is what I do for me.
I learned (started learning) vi before vim existed.
I generally dislike "features" though I find some useful.
I use xFCE Desktop with no icons and very simple background to minimize distractions.
In my work life I can make good use of ten or more open terminal sessions.
I keep each terminal session maximized in its own workspace.
Details
- Add the line export EDITOR=vi to .bashrc because if you want to use "nano" you can type "nano".
- Add the line bind -m vi-command '"v": ignore' to .bashrc to disable the behavior of <esc>v at your terminal prompt.
- Add alias l='ls -lA' to .bash_aliases.
- Download https://someonewhocares.org/hosts/hosts from Dan Pollock and apend it to your /etc/hosts file.
This improves your browsing experience.
